Hello, I’m Mei Yee
A Life Lived Across Many Fields
A lifetime of watching, learning, applying and starting again.
Florist. Language teacher. Art teacher. Martial artist. Mother of three. Chinese by heritage, shaped by England, now rooted in Provence — I have navigated three cultures and found something essential in each.
None of it was accidental. Each field, each place, each role taught me something about how people function under pressure, how mastery is built, and what real change actually requires.
What the Martial Arts Taught Me
For twenty-five years I trained — Judo, Tai Chi, Wing Chun.
Three disciplines. Three different conversations between body, mind and opponent.
What they share is this: you cannot force your way to mastery. You train, you apply, you fall, you get up. You learn to read what is coming before it arrives. And then — if you stay with it long enough — something shifts. The thinking stops. The response becomes instinct. What once required effort becomes natural.
That arc — from effortful and overthought to fluid and instinctive — is exactly what I work towards with the people I coach and work with. I have lived it in my body for decades. I understand it from the inside.
Accepting defeat, however temporary, with an open mind. That is not failure. That is how mastery works.
On the Noise That Comes With Achievement
I know what it is to push hard, achieve, and still find the noise gets louder rather than quieter.
That understanding is not theoretical. It is why I work at the level I do — beneath strategy, beneath willpower, where the real patterns live.
How I Came to This Work
A quiet thread has run through my life for as long as I can remember — a sense that there is purpose in each experience, and something worth understanding in every obstacle.
That thread led me to hypnotherapy and coaching. Not overnight, and not in a straight line — but as the natural arrival point of a long journey through many fields, many roles, and a great deal of lived experience.
What I know now, more than anything, is what people actually need in order to move forward. Not more advice. Not more pressure. Simply to be genuinely heard — and from that, to see something they couldn't see before.
That moment of insight — when something previously hidden becomes suddenly clear — changes everything. The self-doubt quiets. A stillness arrives. And from that stillness, real performance becomes possible. Not forced. Not managed. Natural.
That is what I work to create — whether we are working on sleep, on mental performance, or on the deeper patterns that quietly run both.
Where I Work From
I am based in Cadenet, in the Luberon region of Provence — a place whose seasons, landscape and pace have a way of putting things in perspective.
My dog Jouques ensures I stay grounded.
Sessions are available online via Zoom and in person in the Luberon, for those who prefer to meet face to face.
Credentials
I am a certified clinical hypnotherapist and member of the ACCPH, working with professional indemnity insurance. My practice, Evolve Minds, brings together hypnotherapy, NLP and performance coaching — delivered online and in person.
